Information About Fraudulent E-mails and Phone Calls Referencing SP&P

SP&P is one of the largest and most prominent law firms in Belarus. The prominence of our firm unfortunately attracts individuals who falsely claim to work for SP&P and/or use our firm’s name to advance fraudulent schemes against third parties.

Scams and other security risks are rampant on the Internet, and we recommend you to take steps to protect the security of your information. While we routinely report such scams to law enforcement authorities, the nature and volume of these misrepresentations makes it impossible for our firm to prevent the misuse of SP&P’s name and the names of our lawyers.

What You Should Do

To report a potential e-mail scam, we recommend you contact us immediately at info@spplaw.by.

If you receive a threatening telephone call from someone claiming to be from SP&P, we recommend:

  • Attempt to independently verify the legitimacy of the caller’s identify, including for example by contacting SP&P (+375 17 288 1313).
  • Do not send the caller any money.
  • Do not give the caller any personal or financial information about yourself, for example, your bank accounts or credit card numbers.

If you receive a suspicious e-mail referencing our firm:

  • Do not open or click on the links contained in the e-mail.
  • Do not open or download any attachments to the e-mail.
  • Do not respond to the email in any way or provide any personal information in reply to the e-mail.
  • Do not send any money in response to the e-mail.
  • Delete the message from your e-mail account.

If you have questions about the security of your computer or suspect the security of your computer has been compromised, we recommend you contact your computer manufacturer or your Internet service provider.

SP&P is aware that its firm name and the names of some of its lawyers and employees have been falsely used by corrupt SP&P third persons in scams intended to victimize third parties. Neither the firm nor its lawyers and employees can accept any responsibility for the criminal conduct of a third person.
