Round table “Issues of application of legislation norms about responsibility for using somebody else’s money” will take place on October 04 – 14, 2010 and will be organized by Expertcentre ALC. Yana Chirko and Darja Katkouskaya participated in the Summit of exporting enterprises of the Republic of Belarus: Strategies and Technologies, organized by the Center of Strategic Development Marketing System, held on 15 and 16 July this year, and made presentations on the use of Belarusian enterprises own and foreign trademarks for the production, labeling and product export.

On 21 July the Managing Partner of Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners LLC Alexander Stepanovski participated in a roundtable discussion on the Project Cooperation between Belarusian and Germanic Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, organized the Committee on Eastern Germany Economy.

On 19 July the Journal "Herald of the Supreme Economic Court of the Republic of Belarus" held a roundtable discussion on "Share construction: the judicial practice of questions and answers", which was attended by members of the judicial practice of SPP Svetlana Valueva and Andrey Vashkevich, who made a presentation on "Competing equity construction contract and preliminary contracts of sale of commercial real estate.

Sergey Chistyakov, Associate Attorney at Stepanovski, Papakul & partners LLC, participated in an internship within the framework of management training for the Belarusian economy, which was held from June 8 to July 7, 2010 at the Academy of Economics of Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel, Germany. The 4-weeks practice related training programme for young managers was mainly oriented on specific features of economical co-operation with German companies.

The Journal "Herald of the Supreme Economic Court of the Republic of Belarus" organized a roundtable on "Share construction: judicial practice in questions and answers". 19 July 2010.

On 2 July the lawyer of  Stepanovski, Papakul and partners LLC Oksana Puchkovskaya successfully passed professional certification carried out by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus in order to verify the knowledge and professional skills needed to provide legal services. In this regard, Oksana has been transferred to the post of senior lawyer of the company. Today in the company already nine lawyers have the certificate of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus that testifies high professional level of experts of the company and quality of the rendered services in general.

Tatiana Ignatovskaya, Partner of the company Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners LLC participted in the roundtable dicsussion of the Deutsch Foundation for International Legal Cooperation "State Anti-monopoly Policy and Methods to Combat Unfair Competition" which was held in Minsk on 29 June in Minsk.

Valery Papakul, the Managing Partner Stepanovskii, Papakul and partners LLC made a presentation on corporate regulation in the Republic of Belarus, namely about new forms of association, agreeing with the competition authority, creation of the Customs Union; Tatyana Ignatovskaya, a Partner of the company was a moderator of hte section on competition law within the the Fifth CIS Local Counsel Forum.

Alexander Stepanovski, the Managing Partner of the Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners LLC gave a presentation on "Potential problems in negotiations and execution of foreign trade contracts" at the Roundtable discussion "Strategy and Promotion of Foreign Economic Activities of the European Union in Terms of Industry in Germany", which was held June 23 in Minsk.

The fifth anniversary CIS Local Counsel Forum has started in Minsk on 23 June, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Minsk Hotel, where partners of the law company "Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners" are planning to take an active part.

Оn Tuesday, 22 June 2010 in the offices of the Russian law firm Goltblat BLP the workshop “Protection of IP Rights In the Digital Sphere" was held. Yana Chirko and Tatiana Ignatovskaya covered thorny issues that IP owners face when using items covered by exclusive rights in the digital sphere on the territory of Belarus and the potential legal implications of the President's Decree № 60 "On mergers for improvement of usage of the national segment of the Internet network".

SPP lawyers Alexander Stepanovski and Valentina Egurova were invited to attend a course of lectures on Muslim and International Law  in the Summer Education Program of the University of Iowa College of Law, the USA, which was held in Arcachon, France. Among international attendees - lawyers and law students of law of the United States and Russia.

Dmitry Kovalchik, Associate Attorney of commercial practice of Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners LLC participated in the seminar of the Educational center of the BelCCI" on the topic "School of Foreign Trade of the International Arbitration Court at BelCCI. Treatyies in foreign trade activities", which took place on 15 June in Minsk.

From 6th to 11th June 2010 in Suzdal meetings of members of partnership “CIS Competition Support Association” (Partnership) with members of the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP) were held within the 31-th meeting of the ICAP and the Day of Competition - the enlarged meeting Collegium of FAS Russia during the celebration of 20 anniversary of the formation of Russian antitrust authorities, which involved SPP partner Tatiana Ignatovskaya, a founder and a member of the Partnership, as well as a meeting of the Headquarters on joint investigations in telecommunications market.

On 9 June, 2010 XIV Polish-Belarusian Economic Forum "Neighbourhood-2010" was held in Minsk. The forum is organized by the BCCI together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus. Irina Anop, Associate Attorney of SPP made a presentation at the Forum on legal issues of privatization in the Republic of Belarus

Svetlana Valueva,  Associate of Litigation of Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners LLC participated in the national seminar “Intellectual Property: Quality and Competitiveness”. The event was organized by the National Center of Intellectual Property and took place on the 9th of June 2010 in Minsk. 

The round table on "New Era of Internet Industry in Belarus" was successfully launched in Minsk on 28 May, 2010. The main topic of the forum was the new registration procedure and new state regulations of the Internet trade, as well as issues of creation of an optimal business model of the Internet-shop, including issues on taxation, personnel and customers, PR, search optimization, evaluation of effectiveness of the advertisement. Tatiana Ignatovskaya, the partner of the Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners LLC was among the speakers.

The roundtable discussion “The New Era of Internet commerce in Belarus” successfully held in Minsk on 28 May. The main theme of the Forum was the new procedure of registration and a new order of government regulation of Internet commerce, as well as an optimal business model of online store, including taxation, working with staff and customers, promoting the store, search engine optimization, measuring advertising effectiveness. Valentina Egurova and Dmitry Kovalchik, lawyers of the company “Stepanovski, Papakul and partners” took part in a seminar organized by the company Jurspektr Ltd. which was dedicated to issues of conclusion of construction contracts with customers and sub-contractors.

On 21 May the First Unofficial Legal Forum took place in Moscow at the club “The Roof of the World”. It was organized by the cocktail site Inshaker.Ru, Newspaper “The Moscow Times” and HSBC bank. The aim of the Forum was to unite representatives of the professional legal community by giving them an opportunity to communicate in a friendly informal atmosphere.

Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a Belarusian-Vietnamese business forum on May 14 within the framework of the visit of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Aleksander Khrapoutski, Head of International Projects and Arbitration Group, met some of the members of the Vietnamese delegation which consisted of 80 representatives of major Vietnamese companies and discussed with them the possibility of cooperation in legal matters.

In April 2010 SPP received an invitation to join the international professional association TerraLex. SPP partners were pleased to accept the invitation because only a leading firm in its market and that it can be expected to provide high quality legal services can be selected to provide those services with high quality service and represent Belarus on international level.

The National Centre of Legislation and Legal Research of the Republic of Belarus held Practical Conference “Theoretical and Practical aspects of the Legislalation of the Republic of Belarus when Carrying out Entrepreneurial and Economic Activity”. Olga Obsekova, Senior lawyer of Judicial Practice, and Yana Koneva, Senior lawyer of Comercial Practice, took part in the Conference.

Lawyers of the Commercial Practice of the company “Stepanovski, Papakul and partners” took part in the seminar on the issues of formalization and support of legal relationships arising when transporting goods by means of own transport as well as with the help of carriers and shipping agents.

Panel discussion on economic issues of intellectual property was held on April 20, 2010 in the National Center of Intellectual property. It was attended by a representative of the company “Stepanovski, Papakul and partners” Svetlana Valueva, Senior lawyer of Litigation.

International Advertising and Marketing Festival “Belyi Kvadrat” is the main event in advertising industry of Belarus, which was held for the second time at the Culture and Business Center “Moscow House” in Minsk and lasted for 3 days from the 15th till 17th of April. International Advertising and Marketing Festival “Belyi Kvadrat” is a business forum which gathers together business people and ad makers, who choose the best companies in advertising and marketing industry, sums up last year results, and defines priorities and trends for the next year. The jury of the festival were represented by complete professionals and Tatiana Ignatovskaya, the Partner of  Stepanovski, Papakul and partners LLC, in particular.

The Third CIS-EU Legal Forum "EuroLawyer 2010" was held 15-16 of April 2010 in London at "The Cumberland Guoman Hotel". Theme of this year event: "State and Business: joint development perspectives." Stepanovski, Papakul & partners LLC as a co-sponser of the event was presentaed by the Managing Partner Alexander Stepanovski.

Svetlana Valueva, Senior lawyer of the company "Stepanovski, Papakul and partners" presented a report at the Legal Forum "Trade mark. Development Strategy" which was held by "Trade and Industrial Law" journal on April 15, 2010 in Minsk. It became already a good tradition for the Journal editorial staff to invite SPP experts for presentations on different legal issues at different professional forums.

On 1 April 2010, Goltsblat BLP held a Business Breakfast with Sergey Shatalov, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Finances of the Russian Federation, on “Hot current tax issues: transfer pricing and distribution-linked bonuses” at the Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel. Alexander Stepanovski, Managing Partner of the law company Stepanovski, Papakul & partners LLC, as well as Elena Sapego, Co-head of the Corporate Practice of the company, were honorable guests at the event.

Legal Forum "Land law. What is the practice?" was held by the Magazine Commercial and Industrial Law on 25 March, 2010. TheStepanovski, Papakul & partners LLC" was represented at the Forum by Valentina Egurova and Dmitry Kovalchik, senior lawyers of the company.

Irina Anop, Senior lawyer of Corporate Practice of the company “Stepanovski, Papakul and partners” took part in the Legal Forum “Private Unitary Enterprises: management nuances”of the Journal Commercial and Industrial Law" which was held on March 18.

Belarusian and Slovak Summit of Entrepreneurs “Introduction of innovations into industry and power engineering” was held on March 16, 2010 under the organizational auspices of the Minsk BCCI department and financial support of SlovakAid. Alexander Khrapoutski, Head of Arbitration Group and International Projects of the company “Stepanovski, Papakul and partners” took part in the event where he presented a report on the company activities in front of the representatives of Slovak business companies.

Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Belarus and the organizing committee of the International Advertising and Marketing Festival "Bely Quadrat" announced a competition for a creative concept to promote Belarusian goods and services within the country. The competition will be evaluated by the jury of the social advertising festival, representatives of ministries and departments, heads of marketing service of well-known Belarusian enterprises. Particularly it is pleasant to note that one of the jurors is Tatiana Ignatovskaya, a partner of the company “Stepanovski, Papakul & partners”.

The 6th Belarusian Law Students Olympiad took place at the Law Department of Belarusian State University on the 12-13th of March. The best students of law from all the universities of Belarus participated in the contest. It is very pleasant to make a special mention of the team of Belarusian State University, the captain of which was Maksim Shapelevich, Lawyer of Commercial practice of “Stepanovski, Papakul & partners”, recieved the highest score in the team round of the contest.

Legal Forum sponsored by the Commercial and Industrial Law Magazine on "Commodity distribution network: organizational and legal structure of exports" took place at the conference hall of the hotel "Europe" in Minsk on 11 March, 2010.

Chamber of the Ministry of Justice awarded the best companies providing legal services, as well as lawyers-licensees as a result of the republican competition in 2009.

On 25 February, 2010 in the Kiev office of the law firm "Salkom" a meeting of the non-profit partnership "CIS Competition Support Association" took place.

For the sixth time in a row the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) brought together leading players of the Ukrainian legal market, as well as young and promising companies to discuss the problems and prospects of the legal services market development.

Belarusian-Russian Economic Forum “Development prospects of business collaboration between Belarus and Russia” took place in Minsk on the 25th of February.

Head of arbitration group and international projects of the company Alexander Khrapoutsky took part in Economic Forum “Belarus - Italy”, which took place at Business Centre “Victoria” in Minsk. Italy was presented by more than twenty business organizations at the invitation of Minsk Department of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

On 19 February Managing Partner of the company Valery Papakul took part in the extended session of the standing committee under Advisory council on foreign investments under Council of the Republic of Belarus.

Tatiana Ignatovskaya, the Partner of “Stepanovski, Papakul & partners”, made a presentation during Business Forum “Russia-Belarus 2010 (Moscow and regions). Consumer Goods: new contracts and sales growth” for representatives of Russian retail networks. They came to Minsk to get business proposals from Belarusian manufacturers of consumer goods for supply of Belarusian products into Russian stores.

The Belarus-Lithuania investment and economic seminar was hold in Vilnius on 4 and 5 February. Government officials and representatives of business circles of the two countries discussed investment cooperation, strategic joint projects and other issues. Tatiana Ignatovskaya and Svetlana Valueva, lawyers of the company "Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners" took part in the event where they presented speeches on important legislative matters.

On December 23, 2009 the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, Moscow, registered the Noncommercial Partnership “CIS Competition Support Association” (Partnership), created by the initiative of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS of the Russian Federation). Tatiana Ignatovskaya, Partner of the Company and Head of Commercial Practice, became one of the founders and initiators of the Association’s creation. The Partnership united leading lawyers in the sphere of Russian antimonopoly legislation and economists, specializing in competition.

On January 22, 2010 two more lawyers of the company "Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners", Olga Bratkovskaya and Sergey Chistyakov have successfully passed professional certification carried out by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus in order to verify the knowledge and skills of lawyers to be able to provide legal services. To date, the company already has 17 lawyers with a certificate of attestation of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, which indicates a high professional level of specialists of the company and the quality of legal services in general, and that SPP is the largest professional law firm in Belarus.

On January 21 the journal "Industrial and Trade Law", together with the Belarusian Republican Union of Lawyers held a legal Forum on" Investment Agreement with the Republic of Belarus ". The discussion was attended by the corporate lawyers of Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners Valentina Egurova and Irina Anop.

Tatiana Ignatovskaya, the partner company Stepanovski, Papakul & Partners, gave comments on enhancing legislative process and the liberalization of legislation in the sphere of economic activities in 2009. In the fall 2010 the annual report Doing Business 2010 Reforming through Difficult Times was launched by the World Bank together with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The report was the seventh in the annual series of reports providing objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement. Svetlana Valueva and Polina Smykovskaya, the lawyers of the law firm Stepanovski, Papakul & partners, made a valuable contribution which was essential for ensuring the quality and timeliness of the data in Doing Business 2010 Reforming through Difficult Times.
